We have so many gifted by the same God who gave her the gift of courage! This child is one to remember each time we hesitate in our battles against evil.🙏
A 40 mile ride in the dark and through stormy weather probably seems like not a big deal to many, but given the severity of the situation, she was quite courageous! One wonders if that was one of the longest trips she’d ever made, given that horseback was their means of travel (or wagon/coach) and many in those days rarely ever traveled anywhere except to the next town or a neighboring farm. And she did it without a cell phone & GPS! I’d say not many 16 yr olds today would be up to the task without their smart devices, in the dark, with no highways! We’ve become a nation with no backbone!
I never heard of Sybil and her Midnight ride. Her youth gave her the energy to make that 40 miles ride. She was a Patriot. I hope she had a good life.
Thank you Elizabeth for sharing this piece of history.
Fascinating.
That is a fantastic history lesson, I had not read about this. Thank you very much
I just saw this on a show recently! I had never heard of her before. Pretty cool.
